Why Aveda? A Journey of Purpose and Passion
“In 2002, when I first considered Aveda for my salons, terms like "vegan," "plant-based," "cruelty-free," and "sustainable" were not part of mainstream conversations. Yet, these principles were at the heart of Aveda's mission. Intrigued, I traveled to Minneapolis to see their operations firsthand. I was profoundly impressed - not just by their use of wind turbines for manufacturing energy but by their unwavering commitment to environmental responsibility and holistic beauty.
Fast forward to 2025, my wife Lucie and I had the honor of attending the Living Aveda event in Jaipur, India. This three-day gathering was a celebration of self-care, storytelling, and soul-nourishing rituals, bringing together delegates from around the world to share in Aveda's mission. The experience was both inspiring and humbling, reaffirming our dedication to the brand's values.
Aveda's commitment to sustainability is evident in their product formulations and packaging. Their hair care products are vegan, naturally derived, and inspired by Ayurveda, the ancient healing art of India.. Moreover, Aveda has been a pioneer in environmental leadership, being the first beauty company to sign the Valdez/Ceres principles of environmental sustainability in 1989.
